Lower the Factors Impacting Your Higher Bills
Posted on January 27th, 2021
When winter cold snaps occur, your HVAC unit and water heater work harder, cycling on and off more often, which requires more electricity.
Heating costs often account for the majority of your home’s winter time energy usage, which means your bill can be higher than normal. Even when members use other sources of heat, such as a space heater, those items only contribute to higher usage.
Make sure emergency heating settings on your thermostats aren’t turned on, and be aware that space heaters and similar auxiliary devices are highly inefficient.
Billing cycles may also impact your bill. Billing cycles can range from 25 to 35 days depending on the dates billed. More days in a billing cycle may make your bill seem higher than normal.
Help lower the factors impacting your bill by doing the following:
- Download and use the First Electric mobile app to monitor your energy use. It’s free and available in the Apple and Android app stores.
