October is National Co-op Month, a time when electric cooperatives across America pause to celebrate the people who make this model work: our members. At First Electric Cooperative, that celebration is more than a slogan. It’s the way we operate every day.

October is National Co-op Month, a time when electric cooperatives across America pause to celebrate the people who make this model work: our members. At First Electric Cooperative, that celebration is more than a slogan. It’s the way we operate every day.
At First Electric Cooperative, we readily accept the responsibility of protecting all personal information in our data systems from would-be identity thieves. With this in mind, First Electric has implemented an Identity Theft Prevention Program that will help detect and/or prevent attempts to steal or misuse your personal information. We will respond quickly and appropriately to any detected incident.
The goal is to make our Identity Theft Prevention Program transparent to members and cause as little inconvenience as possible. However, we will take extra precautions to verify the identity of those opening and inquiring about accounts. That means we will ask for positive proof of identity, such as a Social Security number, driver’s license and/or military/government photo identification, before anyone can access account information.
These extra security measures are for your protection. In addition, by staying on guard for potential fraud, we hope to be able to reduce the number of debt write-offs that we experience, which helps keep your cost of electric power reasonable.
First Electric takes this obligation as seriously as keeping the lights on.
