A passion that began in the heart of 27-year-old George Dunklin Jr. in 1983 has grown into more than 6,000 acres of conserved land, a private lodge, a research and education center and a haven for wildlife.

Long-time First Electric and Connect2First members, Five Oaks Agricultural and Education Center in Stuttgart is more than a destination, it’s a home away from home.

Today, Five Oaks is a world-class, nonprofit hunting destination with a mission that reaches far beyond the field: education, research and conservation.

One of its most impactful initiatives is its youth camp program. Through hands-on experiences, young campers learn about nature, wildlife, outdoor safety and conservation while developing a lasting appreciation for the outdoors.

Through a partnership with the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Five Oaks gives selected graduate students the opportunity to live and work in Stuttgart alongside experienced biologists while conducting wildlife and conservation research.

New research initiatives, habitat projects and educational programs continue to support Five Oaks’ mission to protect waterfowl, wetlands and the ecosystems that sustain them.

That dedication is evident throughout the property. When asked what the land’s wildlife visitors might say if they could speak, Chief Operating Officer Stewart Hornor’s response captured the heart of the organization's work: “I hope they would speak of the intentionality that is brought to Five Oaks, the intention of building a resourceful and safe rest stop during their visit, as only a small portion of this land is actually for hunting.”

Today, Five Oaks’ impact can be seen in campers discovering the outdoors, graduate students advancing conservation research and wildlife finding refuge across the land. What began as Dunklin’s passion has become a legacy rooted in outdoor experiences, education and conservation.
