New products and services in the industry, like solar provide an opening for companies to provide misleading information. Members are often told if they buy solar they will not pay another electric bill and can cut the cord with their electric company. Recently, First Electric has noticed an increase in utility phone scams. Typically, the callers are threatening to disconnect your service if you do not pay immediately. First Electric will not call and threaten you – nor will we ask you for payment information. Trust your instincts, if you feel uneasy, hang up and call us directly.
