What is Solar Worth to You?

We look at all installations on a case-by-case basis.

First, we examine your electric bills and look at the overall efficiency of your home. We don’t recommend putting expensive water in a leaky bucket. You don’t want to put a solar array on your home if the savings are going out the front door!

Second, we look at your annual consumption and size a system taking into account your historical usage. It's not beneficial to oversize a system for your home.

Third, we’ll determine the best location for the solar system based upon roof pitch/quality, tree coverage, and other factors. When needed, a ground mount system is available to provide optimal system production.

Last, a detailed report is presented to help you make the decision on whether solar is right for you!

Save money with Solar

Savings

On average, our customers save $40 a month with a 5kW system, which can produce approximately 500 kWh (kilowatt-hours) per month. That’s about a third of the 1,500 kWh consumed monthly by the typical home.

Although this is the general rule, one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to solar. All homes and lifestyles are different, which means the savings will differ too. A personalized free consultation with a FECC energy expert is necessary to best estimate your savings.

Additional Incentives

A federal tax credit of 26 percent is available through December 31, 2020, for existing homes, new construction on principal residences and second homes. Read more at www.energystar.gov. Plus, FECC members can take advantage of on-bill financing (with approved credit) and combine payments with their electric bill.

Solar energy must be used as it is produced. FECC members can sell back excess energy to FECC at the current wholesale power rate price. An Interconnection Agreement is required, which sets the terms and conditions for properly and safely connecting a solar system to the electric grid.
