Three Local High School Juniors Chosen for Virtual Youth Tour

Posted on May 28th, 2021

First Electric Cooperative is sponsoring three high school juniors on the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, a web-based educational opportunity in June that allows participants to engage with state and federal elected officials and to learn about the cooperative business model as well as the importance of public service.

This year’s participants representing First Electric are:

  • Chloe Miller of Cabot, Cabot High School
  • Payton Dumas of Bauxite, Bauxite High School
  • Evan Cates of Perryville, Perryville High School

Youth Tour is traditionally an educational trip to Washington, D.C. but the trip was canceled due to the pandemic. It will be conducted via Zoom with daily video sessions from June 18 to 25.

The three participants representing First Electric each won a laptop computer and are eligible to win a $5,000 scholarship from the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.

Participants were selected based on information provided in an application as well as an interview. First Electric thanks all applicants and encourages students to apply beginning Feb. 1 for the 2022 Youth Tour. More information on the program is available at www.firstelectric.coop/youth-tour.
