New Accounts / Service


When applying for electric service, we require a $10 membership fee and a $25 connect fee. The membership fee establishes you as a member-owner of First Electric Cooperative.

In addition, a security deposit may be charged. Our standard deposit is $240 and is payable in two equal installments  one payment upon application and one payment on your first month's bill. After you have completed 12 consecutive months of payment with no late payments, your deposit will be credited back to your bill with interest.

Deposits may be waived by providing one of the following items:

  • Satisfactory credit check.
  • A letter verifying credit history from your previous electric utility stating that your account had no more than two delinquent notices in the past 12 months.
  • A military waiver if you or your spouse are in the Air Force.
  • A present member of First Electric can guarantee payment of your account. The third party must have received service for at least one year from First Electric, with a good credit standing, and sign a Third Party Guarantee.

If you need electric service for a residence or business under construction, it may be necessary for our field personnel to meet with you at the service location to determine the proper facilities needed to provide electric service.
