78 Years of Service

First Electric Cooperative marked its 75th anniversary of providing reliable, affordable power April 26, 2012. First Electric was incorporated April 26, 1937, as the first electric cooperative in Arkansas under the Rural Electrification Act. First Electric energized its first lines April 15, 1938, near Jacksonville with three employees and 150 members. Today, First Electric serves more than 91,000 active accounts throughout 17 counties in central and southeast Arkansas.
